The 2024 Indy 500 and Midget Madness Blog
On Monday May 20th a bunch of excited Australian race fans will fly out to the land of Indycars, sprintcars and speedcars for 29 days of sheer speed and bravery.
26 races in 29 nights is not a bad ratio methinks! Made even better by watching Kyle Larson start in his first Indianapolis 500 before 440,000 people in the largest one-day sporting event in the world.
What are the odds that he could actually win the thing before flying out to Charlotte for the NASCAR Coca-Cola 600 that same night?? Read Road and Track’s take on the huge commitment Larson has made to be only the sixth person in the world of racing to undertake the challenge.
But Indy is only one race. There’s 24 more on dirt for the midgets and sprintcars we love here at Global Speedway Tours. Not forgetting a 500-lap race that hosts 33 non wing sprintcars starting three abreast on a 1/4-mile, high-banked pavement track in Anderson, Indiana. They call it the Little 500 held the night before the “Big 500”.
So check back here from time to time after May 20th to see how we’re getting on …..
